Kelly Smiley has been with Wild Island waterpark for 19 years starting as park services in 2005. In 2010, she was promoted to Group Sales manager; in 2014 she moved into the Admissions and Operations Manager position; and in the 2022 season, she also inherited the Food & Beverage department. She now oversees multiple departments and more than 140 staff members. She has continued to remain involved in many areas including staff hiring, recruiting, and training and assisting in operating the facility’s family entertainment center in the offseason. She is a Jeff Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Instructor, certified ServSafe food manager, and she is pursuing a degree in business management from the University of Nevada, Reno. She has been a speaker at WWA, attended multiple IAAPA expos and many of Jeff Ellis & Associate’s International Aquatic Safety Schools (IASS).
