FAQs

  • What kind of safety measures will be in place at the 2021 WWA Show?

Providing you with a safe, comfortable, enriching show experience is our #1 priority for this year’s annual WWA Show. Currently, we are in communication with our partners at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, and other show venues to determine what safety measures should be in place for the show in October. Also, we are monitoring recommendations made by the U.S. Centers For Disease Control & Prevention for meetings and events like ours.

We know that recommendations are continuing to change on an ongoing basis, hence we will continue to post updates to WWAShow.org with the latest safety best practices as we get closer to the show dates.

Here are some general tips to help make your show experience safer for you and others who attend:

    • If you are experiencing symptoms such as fever or feelings of being sick, please do not attend the WWA Show. If you’ve been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 in the 14 days leading up to the start of the WWA Show on October 19th, please do not attend.
    • Maintain 6 feet of physical distance from other attendees whenever possible.
    • Cover your nose and mouth with a mask whenever indoors.
    • Practice good hygiene by regularly washing your hands or using hand sanitizer stations provided throughout the center.
    • We recommend that you be fully vaccinated before traveling to the WWA Show.

In addition to these recommendations, here is some general information about what is in place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as of August 31, 2021:

    FACE MASKS
As of August 10, 2021, the City of San Antonio will follow the current CDC recommendations to require all individuals, age 2 and above, regardless of vaccination status to wear masks indoors in all its public facilities, which include the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Although this mandate could change before October, we recommend that you bring clean masks for each day you plan to attend the WWA Show. Masks will be provided at the WWA Registration Desk should you need an extra one.

Masks will also be required while riding on WWA shuttles that will transport you to and from offsite networking events like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and The Quarry Golf Course. Parking will be available to attendees who wish to drive themselves to and from these events.

    BUILDING SANITATION
    Accreditation and Training
The Convention Center is proud to have received the Global BioRisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Accreditation. GBAC is a division of International Supply and Sanitary Association (ISSA), the worldwide cleaning association. This accreditation program assesses cleaning and disinfection practices and infectious-disease prevention. GBAC is an accreditation created for outbreak prevention, response and recovery establishing requirements to control risks associated with infectious agents, such as the virus that causes COVID.

    Sanitizing

    • All staff and contractors were trained on COVID-19 sanitation procedures. Contractors receive updated information regarding new processes and procedures for consistent operations as necessary.
    • UV Lighting was installed on escalators and continually sanitizes handrails.
    • The frequency of sanitizing was increased in all front and back of house spaces with an emphasis on high touch point areas.
    • Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the facility.
    • Sanitizing wipes are located in various areas.
    • Cleaning products are on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved list for use against COVID-19 and staff follow product instructions.
    • Our UV Light Robot is used to effectively disinfect areas.
    • Doors may be propped open in some areas to minimize contact.

    BUILDING RETROFITTING
    Retrofit of Building

    • Touchless items were installed including auto flush valves, touchless faucets, forearm door pulls, and light/power sensors.
    • Automatic entry doors were also installed at our Main Lobby entrance.
    • Plexi-glass/physical barriers may be present in selected areas.

    Building Ventilation
The facility’s air handler units currently operate at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recommendation of 4-6 air exchanges per hour to dilute contaminates. We meet or exceed this standard in all areas.

Additional processes implemented to improve our indoor air quality steps include: use of MERV 13 & 15 higher performing air handler unit filters throughout the facility, adjusted the dampers on our HVAC systems to bring in more outside air, increased unit run times when the facility is occupied and ensure scheduled maintenance is performed on time resulting in additional fresh and filtered air within the facility.

Please note that people who show no symptoms can spread COVID-19, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19 and we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your time at the show. By attending the WWA Show you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
