It’s Not Always The Lifeguards’ Fault

It’s Not Always The Lifeguards’ Fault

Unfortunately, accidents at waterparks happen. When they do, there seems to always be a rush to place blame. Often that blame is placed squarely on the Lifeguards, and that is not always fair. There is a myriad of potential causal factors behind each incident, many of which are outside the direct control of the Lifeguards themselves. This session will take a look at a number of potential contributing factors commonly identified during incident investigation, identify whose responsibility it is to address them, provide some general thoughts on how evaluate and or mitigate the challenges presented by each, and discuss the potential impact failure to adequately address the concerns may have on the overarching safety plan.
