Designing, Operating & Marketing Aquatic Facilities For The Neurodiverse Community

Designing, Operating & Marketing Aquatic Facilities For The Neurodiverse Community

Attendees will discuss creative strategies to design, operate and market aquatics spaces that support neurodiverse communities. The case will be made for “why” this matters, and “how” designers and operators can successfully balance the unique perspectives of neurodivergent individuals to incorporate a spectrum of vibrant, engaging, and multi-sensory experiences. The panel discussion will describe the unique sensory profiles of neurodivergent individuals and how this understanding is critical in designing and operating inclusive aquatic centers and waterparks. We’ll also take a “deep dive” into understanding the best practices for marketing the facility, providing key wayfinding, and making all of this accessible for the preparation of guests visiting the park. This interactive discussion will reinforce the concepts being taught by the panel, leading to deeper understanding of the importance and complexities involved in designing, operating, and marketing neurodivergent-inclusive facilities.
