Claudio Barrera has one of the most unique jobs in the world as innovation, safety, and technical leader with one of the largest global waterpark turn-key firms on the planet. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 2002 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in the province of British Colombia. Working for WhiteWater in a variety of roles over 20+ years, he has honed his skills and had the ability to be a flexible leader and expert in many areas of the amusement business. His current role is Senior Director of Manufacturing, IP and Compliance. Previous roles have included Project Manager, Manufacturing Process Engineer, Manufacturing Operations Manager, Director of Product Development and most recently, Director of Innovation. He is an avid motorcyclist, camper van aficionado, amateur astronomer, microcontroller geek and garage band guitarist. Barrera is passionate about continuously helping to improve public health and safety and environment. He is the past ASTM F24.70 Water-Related Amusement Rides and Devices sub-committee chair and is the task group lead for F2376 Standard Practice for Classification, Design, Manufacture, Construction, and Operation of Water Slide Systems.
