Born in New Orleans and raised in Arabi, LA, Stuart joined the U.S. Army right out of high school and served in West Germany, South Korea, and Ft. Polk, LA. Upon leaving the military, Stuart and his South Korean born wife, Houng-Ja, began raising their family (a son and daughter, Brian and Julie). In the mid-1990’s, Stuart became the branch manager for Temporary Employment Services (TES), after serving as its lead recruiter for 3 years. In 1998, Stuart became the general manager of TES. In 2000, Stuart and his wife decided to start their own small business, Family Beauty Supply, in New Orleans, LA, and ran that business until Hurricane Katrina forced its closure in 2005. Stuart then began his 18 consecutive years with federal/state agencies, first with the Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Disaster Assistance, the Louisiana Road Home Program, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the VA Medical Center in Pineville, LA. In August 2013, Stuart began his Wage & Hour Division (WHD) career as a Wage and Hour Technician for the New Orleans District Office and became the Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS) in May 2021. Since joining the WHD family, Stuart has distinguished himself as an energetic team player who provides exemplary customer service. He skillfully communicates technical requirements effectively, and he is excited to apply his organizational skills to amplifying the NODO’s compliance assistance and enforcement strategies. Stuart and Houng-Ja, his wife of 36 years, currently reside in Harvey, LA and enjoy spending time with their family and traveling.
