Jacki Nuss starting working in aquatics as a lifeguard for the City of Poway (San Diego County) in 2001. During her 10 years working for the City of Poway, she became a Water Safety Instructor and a Lifeguard Instructor, as well as taking on management duties. After a short stint as the Aquaplex Coordinator for San Diego State University, Jacki was given the opportunity to manage a larger staff and multiple locations with the City of Palmdale (Los Angels County) in 2011. Since her time with the City of Palmdale, Jacki has managed a lifeguard staff of 135 spread out over four pool sites of varying sizes and a 6-acre waterpark, the Drytown Waterpark. Her responsibilities include conducting several lifeguarding certification classes per year, participating in the hiring and recruitment process of lifeguards and site managers, as well as creating and maintaining all programming at the pool sites, partnering with local high schools to facility their seasons through a reciprocal usage agreement, plan and conduct multiple pre-season and in service training throughout the year, and supervise the day-to-day operations of all the locations. She recently became a Water Safety and Lifeguard Instructor trainer and teaches several Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor classes per year. She has a bachelor’s of Kinesiology with a concentration exercise science from California State University, San Marcos.
