Dealing with an upset guest is very challenging. Knowing where unhappy guests are coming from, and what they want, is only half the problem. Your employees also need to know how to deal with emotions while staying calm themselves, how to convey empathy, as well as how to avoid the “hot buttons” that will only escalate the situation. How well is your staff equipped to deal with a rude or angry guest? How do you make your upset guests happy? What can you do to ensure upset guests will return, will be satisfied and will refer others to you?
